Most unfinished pieces arrive ready to finish. Using a medium grit (220) sandpaper, sand all sharp edges. (Finish does not stick to a sharp edge). Remove all hardware, dust or loose wood particles with a soft paper towel or an old T-shirt.
- Begin to stain on the bottom of the piece. You can start over on the bottom 6 times and the floor will not criticize.
- Next do inside the piece…don’t have to worry about leaning on something you just did.
- Then do the left side, then right side, and right side up or top!
You should now have a good feel for the brush and stain, the top should look really good, and your fingerprints are on the bottom! Time for poly top coats!
